Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU celebrates Panda Cares Day

Celebrate Panda Cares Day with Panda Express on August 8 and help Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU

Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU is excited to celebrate Panda Cares Day on August 8. Why? Because Panda Express is hosting a one-day virtual fundraiser for kids treated at CHoR. When a guest places an order on the Panda Express mobile app or website using the promo code “PandaCaresDay,” Panda will donate 28% of sales to young patients in Central Virginia.

Donations collected year-round at local Panda Express locations have helped kids like Kelly, our 2020 local Champion. Kelly was diagnosed with spina bifida when her mom, Crystal, was 15 weeks pregnant. Kelly spent her first month in the NICU at CHoR, where Crystal stayed with her every night.

Since the first few months of Kelly’s life, she’s visited CHoR on a weekly basis for care with a variety of specialists. Between her weekly physical therapy sessions and six surgeries, she’s learned to crawl, stand and walk with a walker. Kelly is now working on walking with her bright purple crutches, or “walking sticks” as she calls them. “CHoR gave Kelly a chance,” Crystal said. “They enjoy seeing her and treat her like a friend and not just a patient.”

The support of Panda Express allows Kelly to do what she loves, which is going to school and seeing her friends. Last year, Panda raised $58,849 in donations that will help our community and transform how we meet the most urgent needs, save more lives and protect our collective future.
