Bringing Halloween spirit to children

Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU patients enjoyed a Halloween party hosted by Spirit Halloween on Oct. 16. In addition to providing costumes, games and crafts for the annual event, Spirit Halloween has raised more than $530,000 for CHoR’s Child Life Department through its Spirit of Children program since 2007. Donations have enabled Child Life to hire five additional child life specialists in CHoR’s inpatient, emergency and mental health settings. Child Life specialists support patients and families during medical procedures, help children understand why they are in the hospital and provide a wide range of activities to help kids meet medical goals and have fun.
