Hilb Group’s 15th Anniversary Celebration and supporting communities during difficult times

“As an insurance broker, we are working inside our communities every day,” said Jason Angus, chief operating officer, Hilb Group. “We’re here to protect our clients and their assets when things go bad.”

Similar to Hilb Group’s mission, Jason said Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU supports children and families during concerning or challenging times.

“It would be great if no one had to use CHoR’s services,” Jason said, “but when bad things happen or things that are of concern, you’re glad the hospital is there.”

Headquartered in Richmond, Hilb Group has more than 2,400 associates in 29 states, including approximately 300 in Richmond. In 2021 the Hilb Helping Hands program was launched to formalize the company’s community volunteer efforts. The company organizes quarterly volunteer opportunities for its associates and provides financial support to organizations including CHoR.

As a Vision Partner with our Corporate Champions program, Hilb Group has donated nearly $42,000 to CHoR since 2019, which includes last year’s $25,000 sponsorship of the 60th annual Children’s Hospital Foundation Ball. (Kathryn Angus, Jason’s wife, and Kate Havermann, whose husband Ryan serves on Hilb Group’s management team, are members of Children’s Hospital Foundation’s Junior Board, which organizes the Ball.) Team members have also volunteered at the Holiday Donation Drive for patients for the last two years.

As Hilb Group celebrates its 15th anniversary and continues to increase its Central Virginia presence, Jason said the company believes in supporting the communities in which its associates work and live.

“We’re here to protect and serve our clients and want to align ourselves with like-minded organizations that are doing the same thing,” Jason said. “If your kid is sick or injured, CHoR is there. During a scary and high-anxiety time, CHoR offers a sense of hope and relief.”
