Meet Jonah, age 7

This year, we’re proud to introduce Jonah as Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU’s 2025 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Champion! Diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) shortly after birth, Jonah began his journey with specialists from our team. Despite his diagnosis, seven-year-old Jonah loves staying active—especially through sports like basketball, adaptive rock climbing and swimming, which helps him focus and build confidence. He also loves playing video games, whether at home or as part of his therapies.

Each year, local CMN Hospitals select a ‘Champion’ from their community to represent the children treated at their local children’s hospital. Throughout the year, our champion Jonah will advocate for unstoppable kids at CHoR and partner with local CMN supporters like Ace Hardware, Costco, Dairy Queen, Publix and Wawa.
