Round Up the Change at Love’s Travel Stops and help kids like Shailyn

This holiday season, Love’s Travel Stops across the country will be asking customers to round up their purchases to help kids treated at their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU.

Stopping at Love’s on your holiday travels and rounding up your purchase to the nearest dollar is an easy way to change kids’ health and change the future in your community.

Customer donations gathered during this holiday season will help kids like Shailyn.

Shailyn is a social 8-year-old who was diagnosed with MPS VI in November 2017. Also called Maroteaux-Lamy Syndrome after the two doctors who first described it, MPS VI is a progressive disease characterized by a missing enzyme that impacts multiple systems in the body and causes tissues and organs to become inflamed or scarred. Because of the rarity of her condition, Shailyn was immediately transferred to CHoR for care coordination.

There’s no cure for MPS VI, but it can be managed with weekly infusions of Naglazyme, an enzyme replacement therapy. This helps to mitigate breathing problems, heart problems, abnormal bone structure, and vision or hearing loss. It also gives Shailyn the energy and endurance she needs to go about her daily routines. Now, Shailyn has grown tremendously and enjoys the same activities as most of her peers.

Round Up the Change is a great way to give back to CHoR and local kids treated in Central Virginia. Thanks to Love’s Travel Stops and their generous customers, we can raise needed funds for our hospital and transform how we meet the most urgent needs, saving more lives and protecting our collective future.

When we change kids’ health, we change the future – for all of us.
