Doing good brings company closer

“We have a good number of collective children and grandchildren,” said Donna Spurrier of her company’s 15 employees, “and we really care about having the best care and options for sick kids.”

As the owner and founder of Spurrier Group, a Richmond-based performance media company that utilizes research and strategy to show return on investment, Donna had been interested in partnering with CHoR for years. She also had a personal interest in increasing education about drug addiction after seeing its impact on family and friends. So when she was presented with the opportunity to sponsor this year’s Words & Wisdom book and author event, which featured a discussion about the opioid crisis, Donna was eager to get involved.

Donna said her employees, some of whom have personal connections to CHoR, were thrilled with the company’s sponsorship of Words & Wisdom. As a Vision Partner with CHoR’s Corporate Champions program, Spurrier Group is also looking forward to identifying additional opportunities to get involved at the hospital.

“We have a responsibility to support our community,” said Donna, “and our employees like getting involved. It makes people feel good to do good.”

Donna, who has two daughters and two granddaughters, admits that she has a “soft spot when it comes to children.” As a business owner, she said Spurrier’s community partnerships have made her team even closer.

“The positive ripple effect is one of the best things we’ve done,” she remarked. “We’re a small company. If we do nothing more than set an example for other companies, I’m good with that.”
