Gumenick Properties builds future for kids
Since its founding in the late 1940s, Gumenick Properties, a Virginia-based real estate development and management company, has been actively involved with philanthropic activities.
“One of our core beliefs centers on nurturing our future through the well-being of children,” said Ana Reilly, human resources director. “Our initial focus is on ensuring the health and vitality of children, which is why we were drawn to Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU.”
A Vision Partner with our Corporate Champions program, Gumenick Properties made a significant gift to the Children’s Tower campaign, which provided naming rights to the pizza oven in the Children’s Tower’s cafeteria. Thanks to additional support from the Cabell Foundation, the company’s first-time gift made an even greater impact.
“Our gift allows our associates to get involved in CHoR as we plan to host pizza parties for the children and their families,” remarked Ana. “We have also participated in the Pumpkins for Kids initiative to benefit CHoR for the last two years.”
Gumenick Properties has 75 associates in the Richmond area, including Rebekah Smith, whose son, Jonah, was born with spinal muscular atrophy and has undergone numerous surgeries at CHoR. After taking some time off to care for Jonah, Rebekah returned to Gumenick Properties last summer.
“Rebekah attributes Jonah’s thriving health to the exceptional care he received from CHoR during his challenging journey,” said Ana.
In addition to company-wide initiatives to support community organizations, Gumenick Properties encourages associates to volunteer their time and skills by serving on community boards. The company also facilitates group volunteer opportunities and provides company matching contributions to complement the fundraising efforts and charitable contributions of individual associates.
